- WEATHERPROOF MATERIALS. Cable is constructed of marine-grade weatherproof steel and vinyl coated to provide protection against the elements while preventing scratches to the secured item. Key hole cover is sand-proof and splash proof to increase protection for the locking mechanism. NOTE: the locking mechanism is weather resistant - rinse with fresh water if salt water enters the locking mechanism and periodically lubricate.
